Devonport High School for Boys is proud of its reputation for academic excellence and for developing the skills our students need to be happy and successful. Since 1896, boys have entered DHSB on individual merit and our reputation has been earned by their endeavour and the professionalism of our staff.
We attract and appoint high calibre professionals to lead and support student learning, and provide a well-resourced, vibrant learning environment.
DHSB is supported by a strong governing body which brings a wealth of expertise and experience in supporting the Leadership Group and staff.
An outstanding aspect of our provision is our commitment to personal development and well-being. Our students have a very clear sense of right and wrong and are eager to contribute to the life of the school and wider community.
Under the guidance of a dedicated team of tutors, led by an experienced student support team, our boys know where to go when they need help. Our well established house system creates opportunities for the boys to compete and to have their achievements celebrated.

Please complete and submit the electronic registration form only and do not attempt to send photos to the school. These will not be required.

Update regarding 11+ tests
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we have received guidance from the DFE in relation to the 11-Plus and how it should be administered. Plymouth City Council has now received the outcome from the Office of the Schools Adjudicator (OSA) and the Regional Schools Commissioners Office (RSC) in relation to the proposed variation that was submitted for the admission arrangements 2021/2022 academic year. The submission has been approved as appropriate.
Please be advised that the admissions arrangements for Plymouth High School for Girls, Devonport High School for Girls and Devonport High School for Boys have been varied: the 11-plus tests will now be held on Saturday 7 November and Saturday 14 November 2020.
As the outcome of the tests will be later than usual, all applicants for Plymouth-resident children at secondary transfer, will be able to nominate up to four schools this year. Plymouth City Council advises that all parents consider naming a non-selective school as one of the preferences in the event that a place is not available at any selective school.
